ASHWOOD'S & SONNET'S ICELANDIC SHEEPDOG
The Icelandic Sheepdog is Iceland's only native breed, descended from dogs that Viking settlers brought with them to the geyser and volcano -
studded island in 800-900 AD. They are medium-sized, hardy, all-around farm dogs, adapted to the cold climate and used to drive livestock and round up stray sheep in the mountainous terrain. The breed was almost extinct in the mid-1900s but was preserved through efforts of dog lovers who were determined to not let this treasure slip away.
