Ashley, Velvet and Prissy
In February of 1986 Velvet joined our household. She became"Jee Jac's
Ashwood Velvet Touch, CGC, ROM" Velvet came to us from the Jee Jac
Kennels in Washington State. She brought us more of the Jee Jac lines
and Candray as well. She was Pointed in the US and Canada, however
she did not particularly like the show ring and since I was still very much
a novice handler at the time, I let my nerves go right down the lead to her.
She also excelled at my side in obedience until we got into the ring; as
long as she was on lead she was right with me. The moment the lead
came off, she would know and stand there as I did the pattern, and nod
her head as if to say, " that's it Mom, keep going, your doing great!!!"
However, she did love being a mother and proved herself in the
whelping box, producing seven Champions from the beautiful puppies
she produced. Awarding her a Register of Merrit from The Keeshond
Club of America.
Then we teamed up with Maureen Larsen, at Sylvan. This produced my first Home Bred
Champion, "Ch Ashwood's Sylvan PrimaDonna, CD, ROM" Prissy produced eight champions,
including the uncomparable "MBIS, MBISS Ch CopyKees Ashwood Allance, CGC, HOF, MX"
Top KCA Show Bitch for three years, Top Winning Show Keeshond in 1993, Pedigree Award
Winner 1992 and 1994 KCA National Specialty Best of Breed" Allie was piloted to all her wins
by her Co-Breeder and handler Cherrie Treber.
